Germany copyright law information:

Original computer programs are author's intellectual properties are protected by the law. No other criteria, particularly of a qualitative or aesthetic nature, shall be applied to determine their eligibility for protection. Computer programs can be in any form, including the programming language it is written in.  Ideas and principles are protected.

Copyright infringement is a crime in Germany. The penalty can be imprisonment for up to five years or a fine. No specific amount is given. The injured party shall be compensated.

 

Foreign Nationals

Works (including computer programs) originated by foreign nationals are protected by copyright law, if the work is published in Germany.
